The safety and health of our Hoosier workforce is a top priority for the Indiana Department of Labor. Employees who feel safe at their job have better morale, lower turnover and fewer days away from work while employers are rewarded with higher productivity, lower insurance and reduced workers compensation costs. Everyone wins when the workplace is safe.
To that end, the Indiana Department of Labor has created the new Zero Incidence Award to recognize and commend all Indiana businesses that have succeeded in making the health and safety of their employees a top priority.
Indiana businesses in any Hoosier industry and size are eligible to apply for this certificate and recognition of excellence. To be considered for the Zero Incident Award, a business must:
1.) Operate a facility, workplace or worksite in Indiana (only Hoosier sites are eligible for this award);
2.) Have no open IOSHA investigations;
3.) Have no violations in the past five calendar years classified as a "Serious," "Repeat" or "Willful;"
4.) Have no occupational fatalities;
5.) Have no OSHA recordable injuries or illnesses during the last calendar year; and
6.) Provide the previous calendar year's OSHA 300 Log and the OSHA 300A Summary demonstrating a history of health and safety excellence.
All businesses which meet the above requirements will be recognized with a signed certificate of excellence from the Indiana Department of Labor.
