Per IC 20-28-5-12.3, educators seeking an initial DOE-issued license or permit are required to complete training in identification and reporting of human trafficking prior to initial licensure.This training will be required for any initial educator license or permit first issued to an applicant, regardless of content area or setting.This includes instructional, administrative, and school services license applicants. Effective July 1, 2025, these requirements must be met for the following:
- All applicants eligible for initial educator licenses and all permit types. Additionally, this training is required for school employees who do not hold a DOE-issued license/permit, but who are likely to have direct, ongoing contact with children within the scope of the employee’s role. Substitute teacher permit holders may be required by the LEA to complete this training.
How often and when do I need this training?
At the time of submission of an application for an initial DOE-issued license or permit. A promissory note will not be accepted.
Method of Training: May be in-person or online.
What if I am applying before July 1, 2025?
Please create a Word document that states ‘This does not apply to me because I am applying before July 1, 2025’ and upload it when prompted. The system will allow you to move on with the application. If you have already completed training that meets this requirement, you can also upload it when prompted.
