INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Eric J. Holcomb, Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, and Indiana Treasurer Daniel Elliott welcomed the four members of the 2023 Governor’s STEM Team to the Indiana Statehouse where they honored outstanding high school students for their exceptional efforts in science, technology, engineering, and math.

“The students selected for our STEM team hold tremendous potential for Indiana’s future,” said Gov. Holcomb. “Their dedication, innovation, and expertise embody the Hoosier spirit, and I am confident they will drive us towards a brighter tomorrow.”

In addition to being selected as a member of the Governor’s STEM Team, each student is awarded a $1,000 scholarship deposited into an Indiana CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings plan, administered by the Treasurer of State, and a letterman jacket identifying them as members of the Governor’s STEM Team.

“I am absolutely amazed by the talent and enthusiasm of these students,” said Dr. Jenner. “Their innovative thinking and problem-solving skills highlight the importance of an early introduction to high-quality, engaging STEM curriculum. Fueling curiosity and interest in these subjects prepares our students to meet the evolving needs of our employers, our communities, and our state both now and in the future.”Governor’s STEM Team members (from left to right) Ethan Kiang (science), Brinna Porat (technology), Katie Essex (engineering), and Katherine Yu (mathematics) talk with Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, Governor Eric J.
