DNR at the State Fair

Visit the Natural Resources Building at the Indiana State Fair, Aug. 2-18, 2019.

The Natural Resources Building on the north side of the fairgrounds offers exhibits and demonstrations from many Indiana DNR divisions. It's air conditioned and has public restrooms. There's also a fish display and butterfly garden. DNR employees staff an info booth to answer questions. The Mother Mercantile store sells DNR, State Park and outdoor-themed merchandise. In back of the building is the DNR FIshin' Pond, where children 5-17 can try their hand at fishing (registration required). Demonstrations and lectures - including the popular raptor show - takes place at the covered amphitheater.

New for 2019

The DNR's landholding divisions have teamed up to provide information and hands-on activities related to fire. Visitors can learn to keep homes safe from wildfire and how DNR uses prescribed fire to manage wildlife habitat. They can also discover equipment used in prescribed fire, try on fire crew gear, climb on a Polaris Ranger for a selfie, and learn about Indiana's remaining firetowers.

Daily schedule

All dates, times and programs subject to change; check fair program for updates. For youth fishing, pre-registration at the DNR building is required.
