The Title IV-D Child Support Program is administered by the Department of Child Services, Child Support Bureau, and is carried out locally by the county prosecutor’s office, the office of the county clerk, and the courts. Your county prosecutor’s office can help you with child support matters regardless of your level of income, including:
- Establishing paternity, including facilitating genetic testing in appropriate cases
- Establishing child support orders, including medical support
- Enforcing support orders
- Assist in establishing/enforcing child support orders when a parent resides outside of Indiana
- Modifying child support orders, when appropriate
- Locating absent parents
The IV-D court oversees cases referred from an originating court once the Prosecutor intervenes. Child custody and parenting time guidelines are still under the jurisdiction of the originating court and the IV-D office cannot represent either party on custody/parenting time issues.
