Traffic Safety Division
ICJI is responsible for developing and implementing programming designed to reduce the number of people injured and killed each year on Indiana's roadways. We administer state and federal funds awarded to Indiana from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In this role, ICJI conducts grant management, organizes media campaigns, produces educational/informational materials and coordinates special enforcement efforts with state and local law enforcement agencies.

Click It or Ticket
No matter what type of vehicle you drive, one of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up. As you head out around the Memorial Day holiday, you'll likely see more law enforcement on the roads as part of Click It or Ticket. This campaign, from May 22 - June 4, reminds drivers and their passengers of the importance of buckling up and the legal consequences – including fines – for not wearing a seat belt.

Traffic Safety Grants Awarded
CJI awarded $5.7 million in grant funding to more than 200 police departments for enhanced traffic enforcement. Departments will use the funding to conduct overtime patrols and carry out strategies aimed at curbing dangerous and reckless driving.

Check for Recalls
Every vehicle recall is serious and affects your safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration manages vehicle safety recalls, sets vehicle safety standards and requires automakers to recall vehicles that have safety defects or do not meet those standards. If your car has a recall, get it fixed – it could save a life.
