Biographical Note or Organizational History:

Jehiel Weasner Goltry was born June 4, 1809 in New York. He moved to Jennings County and bought 95 ½ acres of land that consisted of a creek and different kinds of timber. He moved his family to the unsettled land of Jennings County. He married Mariah (Maria) Smith and the couple had five children. Goltry died on 11 July 1850 and his wife died on 28 August 1855. The couple is buried in the Sixmile Cemetery in Jennings County.
