Biographical Note:

James Wiley was born about 1795 in Virginia and operated a farm in saw mill in Metamora, Franklin County, Indiana.  James Wiley died in 1874.  Jerome James Wiley , so of James Wiley, was born in 1822 and worked with his father in Metamora.  Jerome Wiley died in 1894.

This collection contains mostly financial documents including indentures, tax receipts and bills of the Wiley Family.  Also, included are personal papers and correspondence and newspapers.

Materials are organized by type and then chronologically by date.

Grand Prairie Common Stock Community, Warren Co., Indiana, Kristeen Community, Marshall County, Indiana founded by Charles Mowland. Three letters written by Harlow Hard giving early history of community, Union Home, Randolf County, Indiana and includes short article on Abolitionist convention held in Cincinnati in June 1845
