Mission StatementProctor Park Mission Statement

A place of honor and remembrance; A place of reflection and thanksgiving; A place of community and celebration.

Proctor Park honors those individuals who have protected our community and our nation through their selfless service in our country’s armed services and law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency services. Through its very name, Proctor Park, especially remembers those individuals who made the supreme sacrifice.

Proctor Park is a place where visitors are encouraged to reflect on the lives and sacrifices of those so honored and remembered and give thanks for all those who continue in their footsteps.

Proctor Park celebrates a community that came together as a family because of a fallen son and to honor a life given. It is a place where we continue to celebrate our way of life and life itself.

Honoring Our Heroes

A memorial park and playground were constructed on an 11-acre site located on Tracy Road, about a half-mile west of Sawmill Road in New Whiteland. This park is named after Sgt. Joseph E. Proctor, who was killed while defending our freedom and the lives of hundreds of American soldiers in Iraq on May 3, 2006. This park will serve as a living classroom where families will read the names and stories of local heroes – Military, police, fire, EMS; people who serve unselfishly to protect and serve our communities and country.

We have been given an opportunity to celebrate the lives of these brave men and women – to tell their stories and keep their memories alive. We are the proud owners and benefactors of an amazing piece of American history, and we have been called to preserve and perpetuate these stories. What began as a mission to thank one of our own fallen heroes has become an opportunity for us to thank, honor, and respect the many men and women, both living and deceased, who have sacrificed for all of us.

We have two (2) brick walkways with Proctor Park. The WALK OF FREEDOM pays tribute to all veterans. Family members may order personalized bricks to be placed in the designated area for the branch of the military in which their loved one served or is currently serving.

The PATHWAY OF HONOR, in our southern playground area, memorializes all other “Hometown Heroes” – Police, fire, and emergency responders. Brick pavers may also be purchased to be placed in this walkway.
