If your library is interested in adding the Financial Fitness Reading Program to its schedule, please follow these simple steps.
1. Contact the SOS office.
Libraries choosing to participate in the program must email Kelly Griese at kgriese@sos.in.gov. This email must include the contact person, name of the library, level of participation and the number of expected participants.
Piggy banks will be provided to participating libraries and will be based on the number of expected participants. If more are needed, please contact Kelly to see check on availability of additional piggy banks.
2. Incorporate it into you current program.
Different ways to incorporate include the following:
- Add it into your current reading programs.
- Have a library program based on financial fitness: “Get in the Game! Focus on Money Smarts.”
- Require students to choose one book from your collection that focuses on financial fitness and to complete a related activity.
- Hold a “Financial Fitness” Day at your library and invite Secretary of State Connie Lawson to present to your students.
3. Provide feedback on the program.
After the program is completed, libraries are encouraged to submit participation information and feedback to the Secretary of State’s office. This information can be submitted via email to Kelly Griese: kgriese@sos.in.gov. Please include the number of student participants, the grade ranges of the student participants, and the schools represented. We also welcome any feedback you have to offer on how we can improve the program.
