Are You Road Ready

Before hitting the open road make sure you’re road ready in the proper safety gear. A helmet is the best way to protect yourself against head trauma if you’re involved in a serious motorcycle collision. When choosing a helmet make sure the helmet meets all U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 218. Always choose a helmet with the DOT symbol on the outside of the helmet - this ensures the helmet is DOT compliant and meets all federal regulations. Helmets with plastic face shields also protect you from wind, rain, insects, and stones thrown up from cars when riding. When riding, always remember to wear your helmet, bright colored clothing covering your arms and legs, and closed toed shoes covering your ankles.

For more information on choosing the right motorcycle safety gear, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
