Key Policy Decisions Log

In an effort to clearly communicate key policy decisions related to the long-term services and supports effort, FSSA has compiled a key policy decisions log. The purpose of this document is to share and track when decisions are or will be made. The key policy decisions log will be updated regularly to capture progress.

In developing this resource, FSSA used feedback received from stakeholders to identify policy decision points of most concern and importance to older Hoosiers, caregivers, providers and other stakeholders. Comments and questions regarding this document can be submitted to backhome.indiana@fssa.in.gov.

Indiana Direct Service Workforce Plan

In November 2022, FSSA released the Indiana Direct Service Workforce plan following on a year of engagement, research and planning. You can download a copy of the DSW plan here. The accompanying technical report from the Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy can be found here.

The Indiana DSW plan is one of several initiatives under Indiana’s Home and Community-Based Services Spending Plan. You can learn more about HCBS Spending Plan initiatives here.

Indiana Direct Service Workforce - Training Action Area

As a part of FSSA’s implementation of the Indiana Direct Service Workforce Plan and to support implementation of the training-related components of 2023 House Enrolled Act 1342, FSSA has involved stakeholder groups to inform the development of training for Indiana’s unlicensed direct service workers. This work will entail close collaboration with direct service workers, HCBS consumers, employers, other external stakeholders, and state personnel. More information can be found by clicking here.
