Energy Technology & Innovation Grant Program

The Energy Technology & Innovation Grant supports a broad variety of energy technologies that promote innovation in energy projects that reduce energy consumption and support renewable energy growth including energy storage, energy efficiency, liquid fuels innovation, electric and renewable natural gas (RNG) vehicles and infrastructure, or comprehensive energy planning. The OED will award ten projects up to $50,000 per grant for initiatives designed to reduce energy consumption, increase the use of innovative energy and transportation technologies, bolster preparedness and resiliency across the energy landscape in Indiana. Projects must be completed no later than June 1, 2022.

Rural Energy Innovation Grant Program
Status - Closed.
The purpose of this grant is to support rural energy innovation and improvements in Indiana. As an important part of the state's economy, access to affordable and reliable energy is critical in agricultural and rural areas. Increasing energy diversity and redundancy, such as installing solar panels or a back-up power source, can provide additional reliability to rural business operations. New or upgrades in technologies can also help to reduce energy consumption and costs. Applicants are encouraged to submit innovative energy improvements with a focus on key business infrastructure that result in increased energy reliability and savings. Community Energy Challenge Grant Program

The purpose of this grant is to enhance community resilience with a focus on key infrastructure and access to efficient energy options through diverse energy resources, and upgraded technologies. Grantees can benefit from resiliency improvements in a variety of ways, such as reducing overall energy costs included through decreased maintenance-related activities through the use of a new and more efficient technologies as well as energy audits and resilience planning. By diversifying energy sources, upgrading technology, and reducing energy consumption, grantees may also mitigate their exposure to price volatility. Indiana Public Safety Resilience Grant Program
Status - Closed.
The purpose of this grant is to create energy resilience in critical public safety operations including but not limited to fire, law enforcement, EMS and correctional facilities. Grantees can benefit from resiliency improvements in a variety of ways, such as reducing overall energy costs including decreased maintenance-related costs through the use of new technologies, and cleaner fuel choices. Energy and fuel costs can be significant budget line items for public safety and municipal governments. This program seeks to make improvements that will help to alleviate some economic pressure. Further, since reliable energy is key to maintaining critical public safety operations, initiatives that also enhance resilience and redundancy create additional economic opportunities.
