Control & Prevention

To control mosquito populations around your home or business, the following steps should be taken:

• Discard old tires, tin cans, ceramic pots, or other containers that can hold water
• Turn over items that can collect water such as toys, pools, flower pots, and trash containers
• Tightly cover items so water does not accumulate in and/or on top of them
• Clean clogged roof gutters
• Frequently clean and replace the water in pet bowls and birdbaths
• Keep grass cut short
• Aerate ornamental ponds or stock them with predatory fish
• Use a larvicide if standing water cannot be eliminated
• Keep screens in good repair and exterior doors tightly closed
• Keep septic systems in good repair
