References Services: Have a stumper or don’t have the time to hunt for an answer? Let us! The State Library offers reference services for state employees via Chat, email, telephone, or just come by the second-floor Reference Desk.

State Documents: This collection includes reports, historical materials, studies, statistics published by Indiana state agencies, including yours.

Just as the Indiana State Library is charged with archiving and making accessible state publications, state agencies are also charged with the responsibility of furnishing the State Library with their publications. If your agency has a publication that we are not receiving and you think other agencies could use it now or in the future, please contact the State Documents Coordinator at 317-232-3729.

We also have the most current Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register, U.S. Code, U.S. Statutes at Large, and Congressional Record.

State Data Center: We collect federal, state and local level statistical resources for Indiana and offer assistance navigating online and print Census Bureau data, both historic and current.
