Indiana Newspaper Holdings Guide

Microfilm:

The Indiana State Library maintains a microfilm archive of newspapers from around the state.  Use the Indiana Newspaper Microfilm Holdings index in Indiana Legacy to search our collection.

The Indiana State Library has a small collection of Out-of-State Microfilm Holdings.

The Indiana newspaper microfilm archive is located on the 2nd floor of the Indiana State Library and is open to the public.  Bring a flash drive and save at no charge, or it is $0.25 to print.  Most of these reels are available to be borrowed through inter-library loan.

Digitized Historic Indiana Newspapers:

Some historic Indiana newspapers have been digitized and can be accessed for free from any computer through Hoosier State Chronicles.

Indiana residents have access to a selection of papers for free through INSPIRE.  This is made possible by a partnership between the Indiana State Library and Newspapers.com. Go to INSPIRE and look for the Newspapers.com logo.

To see a full list of freely-accessible digitized historic Indiana newspapers please visit the Hoosier State Chronicles blog.
