Biographical Note:

James H. Edwards was born around 1878 in Curtisville, Indiana. He married Louis Carter with whom he had three children. Edwards was Alexandria city attorney and Madison County prosecutor. He was elected mayor of Alexandria, Indiana, and served from 1903 to 1913 and again from 1921 to 1925. In 1934, he was elected Madison County superior court judge and served until 1942. He died January 30, 1947, in Anderson, Indiana.

Scope and Content Note:

The collection contains a letter written by James H. Edwards to Miss Mertie Barker regarding her article on the Cyclorama building that housed the Battle of Atlanta. The Cyclorama had once been in Indianapolis, but was located at Grant Park in Atlanta, Georgia, at the time this letter was written.
