Municipal Codes and Local Ordinances

Indiana local governments may choose to have additional building, construction, and zoning standards within their boundaries. As local governments pass, amend, or repeal all kinds of ordinances, they keep track of the changes to these laws in an organized format, a “municipal code.”

Many counties, cities, or towns publish their municipal codes online, which might be hosted on the local government website, but are frequently hosted by a commercial company with public access provided. The website myLocal.IN.gov has drop-down lists to help find links to the official webpages for Indiana counties, cities, or towns.
