Enforcement Agent

PURPOSE OF POSITION/SUMMARY

To serve as a Gaming Enforcement Agent in the Enforcement Division of the Indiana Gaming Commission, reporting directly to the Gaming Enforcement Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor. The Gaming Enforcement Agent is responsible for conducting all regulatory and criminal enforcement activities at the assigned casino.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Gaming Enforcement Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all applicable Commission policies, directives, administrative rules and regulations.
  • Obtain thorough knowledge of casino personnel responsibilities and internal controls of the assigned casino.
  • Conduct interviews with casino license applicants to determine suitability for licensure while identifying any potential issues. Learn and maintain knowledge and proficiency of IGC’s licensing system to complete this process. Collect fingerprints using the provided digital fingerprint system to expedite the licensing process for new hire applicants and for the re-investigation process for casino licenses.
  • Serve letters to casino licensees on behalf of IGC to address any ongoing licensing concerns.
  • Complete all enforcement work and reports with the maximum amount of proficiency, effort and accuracy in accordance with the Case Management System (SOMA) and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand, monitor and utilize security and surveillance systems at the assigned casino.
  • Conduct regular, timely and thorough testing of electronic gaming devices and other gaming equipment at the assigned casino.
  • Receive and process public and industry complaints, grievances and disputes.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR SUCCESS

    You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • High school diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to objectively and promptly analyze issues.
  • Ability to conduct criminal and regulatory investigations.
  • Ability to conduct investigative interviews effectively.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Obtain proficiency in the utilization of the Commission’s Electronic Gaming Device Systems and Licensing and Application Management (LAM).
  • Ability to develop thorough knowledge of Commission rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of intelligence gathering, rules of evidence and court proceedings.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Adhere to the Commission policy prohibiting Commission employees and spouse from gambling or playing any licensed game or gaming device under the jurisdiction of the Commission in the State of Indiana.
  • Comply with the Indiana Office of Technology’s Information Security Policies and Minimum Compliance Requirements.
  • You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:

  • Successfully complete the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Basic Course
  • Complete annual mandatory law enforcement Inservice training to retain law enforcement status
  • Successfully qualify annually with a passing score with agency issued firearms.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS

  • Work with and coordinate activities with the Administrative Division and the Background and Financial Investigations Section.
  • Work with and coordinate activities with the Gaming Enforcement Investigators.
  • Work with and facilitate productive relationships with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Work with and facilitate productive relationships with applicable regulatory agencies sharing oversight responsibilities of the gaming industry.
  • Work in a professional and courteous manner with all patrons, applicants and people related to the casino operations.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the Gaming Enforcement Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, coordinating investigatory and enforcement activities.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Job tasks are primarily accomplished in a smoke-filled casino environment.
  • Work is often performed in an accelerated environment and under stressful conditions.
  • Working 12-hour shifts and up to 14 hours (limited and emergency situations).
  • Rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays are possible.
