Public Records

The Office of Records Management manages and maintains IDEM’s physical and virtual public records and responds to public record requests made to the agency in accordance with the Indiana Access to Public Records Act (Indiana Code 5-14-3). The office maintains a vast amount of the agency’s public records in its Virtual File Cabinet (VFC), an online repository that provides enhanced access to public records.

If you want to view or have IDEM public records copied, please email, fax, mail, or hand-deliver a public record request using IDEM’s Request for Public Record (State Form 55542), available on the IDEM Forms page. The office address and other contact information is provided on the form. If you need assistance with locating documents in the VFC, please contact the Office of Records Management.

Visitors to IDEM’s Office of Records Management may use the agency’s public access computers to view agency public records, including those located in the Underground Leaking, Community Right-to-Know, and Emergency Response System (ULCERS) database. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Eastern Time), with the exception of state holidays.
