Home Water Safety

When thinking about water safety, it’s important to remember all the different places inside the home that has water present. It only takes as little as two inches of water to cause a drowning. Infants (0 to 12 months) are most likely to drown in bathtubs (CDC, 2024). It’s important to make families aware of the importance of active supervision during bathtime. Staying current on the appropriate temperatures for baths can help reduce burns from hot water. Other examples of home water include septic tanks, coolers, toilets, and any water filled container such as buckets.
