2017 Indiana Hospital Discharge Data Files

PUBLIC INPATIENT DATA SETS

The public inpatient data sets include hospital discharges in which a patient was admitted to the hospital. Discharges are classified as inpatient by the reporting hospitals, and admission criteria distinguishing inpatient from outpatient discharges may vary across hospitals.

This release of the public, hospital discharge data sets consists of 11 files. All data files are in Microsoft Access (.mdb) format. The lookup tables are in Excel (.xlsx) format.

The 2017 public inpatient data sets reflect hospital discharge records shared by the Indiana Hospital Association on July 24, 2018.

All negative numbers and those charges reported as "$0.00" have been changed to "missing."

Discharges by APR-DRG and Severity are produced using proprietary computer software created, owned, and licensed by the 3M Company. All copyrights in and to the 3MTM software (including the selection, coordination, and arrangement of all codes) are owned by 3M. All rights reserved.

AHRQ Area Reports Counts and rates by county for select Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) pediatric and prevention quality indicators, generated by the Indiana Hospital Association.

Hospital Most Frequent Outpatient Procedures Counts and charges for the 75 most frequent procedures performed statewide on patients who were not admitted to the hospital, generated by the Indiana Hospital Association.
