  • Indiana Suicide Prevention

    Indiana Suicide Prevention provides resources regarding suicide and seeking emotional support. There are crisis lines available via phone, chat or text.

  • Bring Change to Mind

    The mission of Bring Change to Mind is to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness. Student programs focus on empowering students to advocate with friends, teachers, and others for mental health awareness and to help create more empathetic and stigma-free school environments across the country.

  • Question. Persuade. Refer. (QPR trainings)

    To have someone in one of your communities/schools trained as a QPR Instructor to deliver the one to two-hour QPR course in their school, email Michelle Bulington. You will be placed on a waitlist to be trained for free through the Strive to Zero youth suicide prevention grant.

    To send folks to attend the QPR course itself or to schedule to have a trainer come to your community, email Jason Murrey for the free training hosted in Indianapolis, or find a local instructor through the QPR portal. Hover over the in-person training drop down and click on "find an instructor." Note: most trainers will conduct the training for free.

  • Sources of Strength

    A strengths-based suicide prevention and wellness program for school communities. Sources of Strength supports students and staff leaders to recognize their strengths and any gaps in protective factors: family support, positive friends, mentors, healthy activities, generosity, spirituality, physical health and mental health. Youth apply these strengths and become more connected and resilient to face challenges.

  • NAMI Ending the Silence

    Presentation for schools that helps youth learn about warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if a peer is showing symptoms of a mental health condition. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) includes a shared story from young adult with a mental health condition who shares their journey of recovery. Audience members can ask questions and gain understanding of an often-misunderstood topic.

  • Change the Frequency

    Change the Frequency is a mental health awareness and stigma reduction campaign that provides tools and resources to support mental health in the daily lives of youth and their families. DMHA partnered with the Indiana Department of Education to expand this Project AWARE initiative to support students and their families during and after the pandemic.

    Change the Frequency – Stronger Together

    DMHA expanded the Change the Frequency campaign again with a more targeted focus on adolescent youth and young adults.

  • Mental Health First Aid

    Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people.

    To find a trainer, click here then click on the drop down “get trained,” type in your location and click “find course.” There is an option to “find course or instructors” and to either see course schedules or get a list of instructors in the area.

  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)

    More Than Sad and It's Real are both educational opportunities for teens and parents to learn more about mental health and suicide and how to access support and resources. If schools in your communities are interested in these programs, contact Kelsey Aaron to schedule free presentations.

  • Project AWARE

    Project AWARE is a federally funded initiative through the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), in partnership with DMHA, and supporting 14 Local Education Agencies. Project AWARE advocates sustainable mental health awareness practices for Indiana educators and the school- aged youth and families they serve. Together, we have the power to foster safe environments and build resilient students. To learn more about this partnership between IDOE and DMHA.

  • Wellness Council of Indiana

    The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration has a new website to provide Hoosiers with free mental health resources vetted by experts. The site is designed to address the increase in anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues including first-time and preexisting mental health concerns.

  • Vape-Free Indiana

    Vape-Free Indiana provides resources for parents, youth, educators, and health care professionals on vaping prevention, public education, and cessation.

  • Mental Health America

    Mental Health America – a national nonprofit dedicated to the promotion of mental health, well-being and prevention.
