Volunteers Needed for the 53rd Annual Black Expo Summer Celebration

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration needs volunteers for the upcoming 53rd Annual Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration! FSSA will host a booth at the Indiana Department of Health’s Minority Health Fair from Thursday, June 27 through Sunday, June 30.

The IBE Minority Health fair is an opportunity to build trust with those FSSA serves and the communities that support them. During the fair, volunteers will have the opportunity to engage attendees and share more information about health and FSSA programs to seniors, persons with disabilities and other Hoosiers in need.

We need your help to make this weekend a success! If you’re interested in participating, please review the information below.

  • Consult with your supervisor about participating and flexing your schedule. FSSA is sponsoring the IBE health fair and the youth summit. Therefore, any time spent by FSSA team members participating in those events is considered a part of their regular responsibilities and should be coded as regular work hours in their time sheets. If you are interested in volunteering, please work with your supervisor to ensure you can flex your schedule without disruption to other business activities.
  • Complete the sign-up sheet by Wednesday, June 12: Employees representing FSSA at the health fair should indicate their shift preference(s) and their supervisor’s name in the link to the online form. Staff are encouraged to sign up for all shifts they are available as a limited number of workers will be approved for each shift. You will receive an email confirming your participation in the fair and next steps. FSSA volunteer staff are expected to work at the designated booth for the entirety of their assigned shift.
  • Attend virtual orientation session: There will be a virtual orientation Thursday, June 20, additional details to follow. Session will include information for parking accommodations for staff not located in or familiar the Indiana Government Center. A recording of the orientation will be provided for those who cannot attend.

Supervisors, please contact the Office of Healthy Opportunities (healthyopportunities@fssa.in.gov) if you have questions about how to facilitate staff participation in IBE.
