Visitation hours and rules
Beginning February 27, 2021, Richmond State Hospital will resume in-person patient visitation. To help ensure a safe visit for both the patients and their guest please review the following visitation guidelines available here.
Richmond State Hospital encourages visits by family and significant others: however, all visitors must have approval from the patient prior to the visitation occurring. Open visitation times are Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Clinical Treatment Center gymnasium unless other arrangements have been made.
All other visitation times need to be scheduled through the unit social worker and treatment team to avoid conflicts with outside appointments and scheduled therapies. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or family member over the age of 21. Guests who are visiting one of their loved ones should park in the CTC parking lot and check in at the CTC timekeeping office at the entrance of the building.
No food and/or beverages are allowed to be stored on the units. Visitors may still bring a meal to share with their loved one during visitation hours although we ask it be consumed at the time and not shared with other patients. Visitors also need to be mindful of the patient’s prescribed diet and food allergies when bringing in food. If a family wishes to bring money for their loved one, it is advised to have it in the form of a money order or check that can be deposited in their account.
Additional information about visitation can be found in in the Client and Family Handbook, which is available by clicking here.
