Improved Tracking Recordkeeping Rule (2017)
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule to improve tracking of workplace injuries and illnesses. While the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) operates as an OSHA-approved state plan, IOSHA adopts federal OSHA regulations identically. On August 1, 2017, federal OSHA made public the online Injury Tracking Application and the online reporting system.

Special Note for Employers With More Than 250 Employees
JULY 26, 2018 | Under the current recordkeeping rule, the initial deadline for electronic submission of information from OSHA Forms 300 and 301 by covered establishments with 250 or more employees was July 1, 2018. However, federal OSHA has announced its intent to issue a proposal to amend its recordkeeping regulation to remove the requirement to electronically submit to federal OSHA information from the OSHA Form 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) and OSHA Form 301 (Injury and Illness Incident Report) for establishments with 250 or more employees which are required to routinely keep injury and illness records. Federal OSHA will not enforce this deadline for these two forms (OSHA Form 300 and OSHA Form 301) without further notice while this rulemaking is underway.
All Indiana employers with 250 or more employees are still required to submit OSHA Form 300A for CY 2017 by July 1, 2018.
All Indiana employers are expected to comply with the issued rule and online system.
Covered establishments with 250 or more employees must electronically submit information from OSHA Forms 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses), 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses), and 301 (Injury and Illness Incident Report). Covered establishments with 20-249 employees must electronically submit information from OSHA Form 300A.
