Next Level Trails Awards
Next Level Trails, the largest infusion of trail funding in state history, has invested $150 million to make Indiana one of the most trail-friendly states in the country. Since the program was announced in December 2018, Next Level Trails has:
- Awarded 75 projects, including:
- 41 regionally significant projects.
- 32 locally significant projects.
- The Monon South Trail to Radius Indiana and the City of New Albany.
- Invested $150 million in Next Level Trails grant funding, combined with $71.3 million in local match value for a total investment of $221.3 million in trails in Indiana.
- Partnered with local units of government and non-profits to develop more than 190 miles of trail in 49 counties.
Round One Awards
- 17 trail projects, including 10 regionally significant and 7 locally significant projects announced in May 2019.
- More than $24.7 million in Next Level Trails grant funding, combined with $12.5 million in local match value, will invest a total of more than $37.4 million.
- More than 42 miles of trail to be developed in 17 Indiana counties.
Round Two Awards
- 18 trail projects, including 10 regionally significant and 8 locally significant projects, announced in March 2021.
- Nearly $29.6 million in Next Level Trails grant funding, combined with $21.9 million in local match value, will invest a total of $51.5 million.
- More than 70 miles of trail to be developed in 16 Indiana counties.
Round Three Awards
- 38 trail projects, including 17 regionally significant and 21 locally significant projects, announced in April 2022.
- More than $65.7 million in Next Level Trails grant funding, combined with $37.4 million in local match value, will invest a total of $103.1 million.
- More than 77 miles of trail to be developed in 34 Indiana counties.
Monon South
- $29.5 million in Next Level Trails funding to acquire and begin development of the 62.3-mile Monon South Trail spanning five counties in Southern Indiana.
- $5.5 million for acquisition of the 62.3-mile corridor.
- $24 million to begin development of portions of the trail.
- New Albany will own and manage the portion of the trail in Floyd County. Radius Indiana will be responsible for the trail in Clark, Washington, Orange, and Lawrence counties.
