COVID-19 Coping Strategies For Children And Teenagers

Dr. Gabriella Rodriguez shares coping strategies and tips to use with children and teens who are experiencing stress and anxiety at this unprecedented time.

Healthy Coping Strategies for Children and Teens:

  • Encourage them to identify and name their feelings.
  • Let them know whatever they are feeling is normal.
  • Discuss how you cope when you feel similar emotions.

Encourage your child to try a few strategies and figure out what works best:

  • Deep breathing
  • Going for a walk
  • Drawing or coloring
  • Connecting with friends and family over video chat or the phone
  • Listening to music
  • Practicing a hobby
  • Learning a new skill
  • Exercising
