Dr. Gabriella Rodriguez shares coping strategies and tips to use with children and teens who are experiencing stress and anxiety at this unprecedented time.
Healthy Coping Strategies for Children and Teens:
- Encourage them to identify and name their feelings.
- Let them know whatever they are feeling is normal.
- Discuss how you cope when you feel similar emotions.
Encourage your child to try a few strategies and figure out what works best:
- Deep breathing
- Going for a walk
- Drawing or coloring
- Connecting with friends and family over video chat or the phone
- Listening to music
- Practicing a hobby
- Learning a new skill
- Exercising
