Before serving alcoholic beverages for any retail permittee, a person must obtain a permit from the ATC authorizing him/her to do so. The Commission may suspend or revoke any permit for any violation of the law and/or rules or regulations of the Commission. A temporary permit may not be issued to anyone under twenty-one (21) years of age. A temporary bartender's permit may only be issued in conjunction with the issuance of a temporary beer and wine permit. A temporary bartender's permit is only valid during the time period specified for the temporary beer and wine permit.
In order to receive a permit, you must complete the application for a temporary bartender's permit. A permit application must be submitted for each person who will be serving alcoholic beverages during the temporary event. You must also submit five dollars ($5) for each temporary bartender's permit application. The fee must be paid by business check, money order, certified check or cashiers check. Cash will only be accepted if the application is hand-delivered to the ATC in Indianapolis.
If possible, please submit temporary bartenders' applications when you submit the application for the temporary beer / wine permit. REMEMBER: THE COMPLETED APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY BEER / WINE PERMIT SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE LOCAL EXCISE OFFICE AT LEAST FIFTEEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT.) The ATC will not process an application for a temporary bartender's permit until the temporary beer / wine permit is processed and approved. If the application for a temporary bartender's permit is submitted after the temporary beer / wine permit has been approved, the application must contain the permit number for the temporary beer / wine permit. NO EXCEPTIONS.
