Over the last 20 years, Hoosiers like you have supported the arts in Indiana through the purchase of an Arts Trust License Plate. Here's what placeholders helped make happen:
- Increased visibility for artists and arts organizations
- Long-term and sustainable arts partnerships in elementary schools
- Robust research linking arts and academic achievement in Indiana
During the last year, we've reached out to plate holders to hear what's important to them and why they support the arts. Here's a sample of what we heard:
“The plate gives me a way to support the arts and it creates a sense of pride and community – I always check to see if I know them when I see other people with the plate!”
“The arts are the glue that holds a community together. They’re a key component of our quality of life, and this plate helps me tell that story to everyone I pass by on a daily basis.”
In short, plate holders told us they value the way art connects community.
As we look ahead to the next chapter for the "Celebrate the Arts" license plate, we are pleased to share the news with you that donations through your license plate purchases will be used to ensure access to the arts in every county of our state through a new initiative through the Indiana Arts Commission's Arts Project Support grant program.
More information is to come later this summer, subscribe to an IAC newsletter for the latest information.
