Jefferson Township is one of the twenty townships of Allen County, Indiana, offering a blend of rural character and community pride while being conveniently close to the Fort Wayne area. Covering about 94.6 square kilometers (36.5 square miles) of mostly land, our township provides open spaces and a peaceful place to live and grow. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, Jefferson Township had a population of 2,037 residents, with a population density of roughly 22 people per square kilometer—a true reflection of its spacious, small-town atmosphere. The township was first organized in 1840 and continues to honor its history while focusing on community services, resource stewardship, and a welcoming environment for families and neighbors alike.
