Energy Assistance Program

BackpackThe Energy Assistance Program (EAP) can help you pay your heat and electric bills! EAP is a federally-funded program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) called the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). EAP provides a one-time annual benefit that can assist you with the high cost of home energy and can help if you are disconnected, or are about to get disconnected. However, an EAP benefit will not cover all of your annual heating and electrics costs, so you should continue to pay your bills regularly.

The Jackson Township Trustee would like to let area residents know that the Indiana Energy Assistance Program is actively taking applications for energy assistance which began helping Hoosiers November 1, 2021. In addition to energy bills, the program now also can help with water and wastewater bills. Indiana Households that make 60% of the state median income or less may qualify for these benefits. More information is available online at https://icapcaa.org/portfolio-items/energy-programs/ , by email at icap@icapcaa.org or by calling the Interlocal Community Action Program Office located at 615 W. State Road 38, New Castle, Indiana 47362 at 765-529-4403. You MUST apply for assistance from the Indiana Energy Assistance Program before making application for assistance from the township, so apply today!
