Trash pickup day for Battle Ground residents is Tuesday of each week, while recycling collections occurs every other Tuesday. If Monday or Tuesday is a holiday, wait to see if collection may be delayed to Wednesday. The second Tuesday every month is large item pickup. (That lumpy recliner that has to go, they will take).
Waste Management’s system does not recycle plastic grocery bags (these get caught in the machinery), food or liquid, or wet cardboard and paper. These items can spoil an entire load of otherwise recyclable materials. Please see the Waste Management link below for more information on recycling.
One trash tote and a recycle bin are supplied to each residential address. If you anticipate having additional bags for pickup on trash day, purchase trash tags at Town Hall for $1.00 and use them when needed. Extra bags with tags will be taken along with the trash in the toter.
Some items that can’t be accepted: televisions and computers, fryer oil or motor oil, cans of liquid varnish, paint or stain.
Tippecanoe County Solid Waste Management District offers recycle/disposal of liquids that should not go to the landfill: fryer oil, motor oil, liquid varnish, oil paint, and oil based stain. Call 765-423-2858 or visit their web site, www.tippecanoewaste.org, for more information about disposal of these and other items.
