Important Update: Transition of the CSA program to the Indiana Department of Education
Effective July 1, 2026, administration of the CSA program will transfer from the Office of the Indiana Treasurer of State to the Indiana Department of Education.
What this means for you:
- Current Services: Services provided by the program will continue without interruption during and after the transition.

- For questions regarding the 2026-2027 school year, including student application information, program eligibility, and provider eligibility, please reach out to the Indiana Department of Education at CSA@doe.in.gov.
- New Website/Resources: All program information and invoicing information will be available on the new website. Please update your bookmarks.
- Invoices and refunds for the 2025-2026 school year:
- Invoice Closure: Invoices for the 2025-2026 school year will close on Friday, May 1, at 3:30 PM.
- Refund Deadline: No refunds will be processed after Friday, May 1, at 3:30 PM.
Please take note of these deadlines to ensure all necessary provider payments and refund requests are completed on time as the CSA program transitions to the Indiana Department of Education.
ABC Prep’s innovative approach to career and technical education bridges schools and businesses, giving high schoolers a real head start in the trades.
A typical day might include “a safety briefing, hands-on training in one of the core trades (such as wiring a circuit, framing a wall, setting a fixture), tool operation, credential prep, site visits, employer interaction, and sometimes live job-site builds.”
“This is more than a class,” emphasizes Director Gabe Galvan. “It’s a launchpad into a career. Our program gives students real skills, industry-recognized credentials, and direct pathways to high-paying jobs. Students talk about how this training makes sense and gives them purpose. Many say it’s the best part of their school day. CSA makes this opportunity possible for families.”
Cardinal Ritter uses the CSA to empower students with real skills and industry-recognized credentials that lead to satisfying careers upon high school graduation.
Prior to joining the CSA, Cardinal Ritter had only a handful of work-based learners at the local CTE center. Currently they have 150 CSA students in their first year of participating, and that number is increasing for the next school year.
Students can now pursue credentials in fields with strong local demand – Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Cybersecurity, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Pharmacy Technician (Pharm Tech), Digital Design, and Principles of Teaching, all due to fruitful partnerships with area employers and CSA funding.
Legacy Medical Academy, a healthcare training company with a decade-long history, uses Indiana’s CSA to improve access to entry-level healthcare certifications for high school students.
The CSA program allows Legacy to offer the pre-nursing pathway—six high school credits and 15 college credits—within a single academic year, providing students with a clear route to certification.
In just one year, Legacy went from training a handful of students at Carmel High School to serving over 110 students across multiple high schools, with plans to expand further in the coming years.
What is the Indiana Career Scholarship Account?
The Indiana Career Scholarship Account (CSA) provides $5,000 annually in career-based scholarship funding to high school students in grades 10-12. CSA funding can be used for work-based learning (WBL) opportunities, such as apprenticeships, internships, and more.

- Choose your CSA program.
- Apply for the CSA scholarship to cover your program expenses!
A professional mentors high school CTE students for a career-level certification in partnership with the Indiana Career Scholarship Account.
If you are a prospective provider (school, employer, intermediary):
- Go ahead and apply here!
- The Indiana Department of Education and Commission for Higher Education will review and approve (or provide feedback) shortly after submission.
- After approval, you'll be provided two documents to complete setup with the State Comptroller's Office so you can receive reimbursement for your program expenses.
- Proceed with your program and send our office an invoice quarterly for your student costs to be reimbursed!
*The CSA program is a cross-agency coordinated effort, administered by the Indiana Treasurer of State (TOS) in partnership with Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (Commission). IDOE approves the eligible programs, CHE approves the eligible providers, and the TOS approves eligible students and expenses.
