The goal of the Switzerland Count Prosecutors Office Pretrial Diversion Program is to give individuals charged with an infraction, misdemeanor, or Level 5 or 6 felony an opportunity to avoid receiving a criminal conviction or points on their driving record. Individuals charged with an infraction, misdemeanor, or Level 5 or 6 felony who meet certain requirements may apply to participate in this program. Successful completion of the program without violating any of the terms or conditions will result in dismissal of all charges. Once charges are dismissed, the court will "expunge" the records meaning they are sealed for public purposes.
In exchange for the dismissal of charges, participants must complete requirements intended to hold them accountable for their actions and educate them on the choices and situations that let to charges being filed.
