Some of the duties of the nursing department:
In addition to free shots for babies, children, and adolescents, the nurses offer free blood pressure screenings at local senior citizen centers, perform vision and scoliosis screenings at county schools, perform free head checks for lice, and do lead screenings in conjunction with the State Department of Health. They also offer adult immunizations (unfortunately, these are not free. See the chart below for pricing). Seasonally they offer flu shot clinics, sometimes in conjunction with the Harrison County Hospital. Often at the start of the school year, they will offer shot clinics at the schools.
Alyssa Janes, RN, BSN
Alyssa Janes, RN, BSN, is the Public Health Nursing Administrator as of September, 2019. Previously she worked in dialysis for one year, and was at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, on the hematology/oncology unit for two years. Alyssa has pediatric experience in school nursing as well. She graduated from Spalding University in 2016.

Theresa Buechele, CMA
Theresa Buechele, CMA, is the nursing clerk/scheduler. She started at the health department in June, 2010. She has worked in the medical profession since 1984. Past employment includes two years at the Main Street Medical Ministry in New Middletown. For twelve years before that she worked as Clinical Manager for Dr. John Farmer in Louisville. Theresa is also the head of the lead testing service. She does lead testing, TB tests, schedules appointments, enters immunization information in the State's CHIRP database, orders and inventories vaccines and serums, among many other duties.

Anna Jones, RN
Anna Jones, RN, came to the health department in September, 2016. For two years prior, she was a nurse at the Harrison County After Hours Care Clinic.

Amanda Scott, RN
Amanda Scott, RN, is our Home Health Nurse. She came to the Health Department in March, 2022. She was born and raised in Harrison County. She and her high school sweetheart are raising their children here. She has been a nurse for nearly 15 years in multiple different roles. She is excited to be part of the Harrison County Health Department team.
