Purpose
The Golden Hoosier Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a senior citizen from the Lt. Governor in Indiana. It acknowledges and recognizes outstanding individuals ages 65 and over for their service and commitment to their communities. This prestigious award, awarded annually, aims to celebrate the unsung heroes whose contributions have significantly impacted the lives of others and the community fabric, often without prior formal recognition.

The Golden Hoosier Award is proudly sponsored in collaboration and partnership with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA).
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Golden Hoosier Award, a nominee must meet the following criteria:
- An Indiana resident;
- Ages 65 or older; and
- Has actively volunteered within their community for the past three consecutive years.
Award Criteria
The selection process prioritizes identifying individuals who embody the spirit of an "unsung hero." Key considerations include:
- Lifetime of Service: Demonstrated long-term commitment to serving others and the community.
- Impact: Evidence of the positive difference the nominee's volunteer work has made.
- Lack of Prior Recognition: Preference may be given to individuals whose significant contributions have not been widely acknowledged previously.
Nomination Process
Nominations must be submitted by a community leader. Nominations should include:
- Nominator's name, affiliation, and contact information.
- Nominee's name, and contact information
- A detailed narrative outlining why the nominee deserves the Golden Hoosier Award

Award Presentation
Awardees and their families will be invited to a special ceremony held in the Indiana Statehouse.
Recipient Receives
The recipient will receive an engraved appreciation award in addition to an office photograph taken with Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith to be displayed on the official website.
