Domiciliary (Independent Living) 120-Day Transitional Program
The Indiana Veterans’ Home is proud to offer a transitional program that mirrors the VA Domiciliary 120-Day Program. Through this program, IVH is able to assist employable veterans in re-establishing their independence by providing a path to stable housing and employment in the general community.
Qualifying residents who admit to the Lincoln Building (Domiciliary/Independent Living) will be assessed by our physician upon admission. If deemed employable, the resident will begin the 120-day program and their transition back into the community.
The Domiciliary 120-Program consists of:
- 60 days of medical and/or psychological stabilization
- 60 days for job search, employment, and housing
The Indiana Veterans’ Home works with Lafayette Transitional Housing, Lafayette Housing Authority, Work One, Ready to Work Program, and the Experience Works Program in order to meet the needs of the veterans in this program. IVH also recommends case management assessments for veterans to Lafayette Transitional Housing, if needed.
As an added bonus, the Indiana Veterans’ Home provides donated furniture, personal items, household goods, and other available resources to the veteran to help ease their transition when they move into their community living setting. After discharge, our Lincoln (Domiciliary/Independent Living) Social Worker continues to monitor and work with the veterans to ensure that the transition back into the community is successful.
