ICSB Calendar

Dates for Indiana Charter School Board meetings can be found here.  

The ICSB holds two application cycles per year: one in the spring and one in the fall.  Additionally, the ICSB holds a charter school renewal process for all schools in their fifth year of operation.  All dates are subject to change. 

Fall 2019 Application Timeline

DATE ACTIVITY
Week of July 22 The ICSB begins accepting Letter of Intent ("LOI") forms. 
August 12 The Letter of Intent form is due. All applicants are required to complete and submit this non-binding form indicating interest in applying to the ICSB. The forms must be submitted to charter-applications@icsb.in.gov by 11:59 p.m. EST.  
Week of August 19 ICSB staff will hold a mandatory application workshop for all potential applicants. Details will be sent to all who submit an LOI.
September 30 Application proposals are due. All material must be submitted in complete and final form to Epicenter by 11:59 p.m. EST.
October 2 Public Comment Period Opens until November 27. Public comments can be submitted to charter-applications@icsb.in.gov.
Week of November 4 Applicant Capacity Interviews held. ICSB staff will interview applicant teams to explore questions and concerns from the applications and to assess the founding team's capacity to implement the proposed program effectively.
Week of November 18 Public hearings are held. As required by Indiana law, public hearings will be held to allow for public comments from community members. Staff from the ICSB and Board members attend. The complete dates and locations of the public hearings can be found here.  
November 27 Public Comment Period Ends. 
Week of December 9 Board meeting is held. ICSB Board members will conduct a final Q&A with each applicant group and make qualification decisions based on recommendations from ICSB staff and any additional information considered by the ICSB. (NOTE: Date subject to change due to board member availability.)

 

2019-2020 Renewal Application Timeline

August 15 The ICSB Renewal Application is available. 
September 1 The Letter of Intent to Renew is due. The forms must be submitted to charter-applications@icsb.in.gov by 11:59 p.m. EST.  
October 11 Application proposals are due. All material must be submitted in complete and final form to Epicenter by 11:59 p.m. EST.
October 14 Public Comment Period Opens until November 27. Public comments can be submitted to charter-applications@icsb.in.gov.
Weeks of November 4 - November 18 ICSB Staff conducts site visits and holds public hearings for each school applying for charter renewal. 
November 27 Public Comment Period Ends. 
Week of December 9 Board meeting is held. ICSB Board members will conduct a final Q&A with each applicant group and make qualification decisions based on recommendations from ICSB staff and any additional information considered by the ICSB. (NOTE: Date subject to change due to board member availability.)
