2024 Annual Governor's Reception

In partnership with Indiana Black Expo (IBE) and Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA), the Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) will host the Governor’s Reception on June 25, 2024. On behalf of Governor Eric J. Holcomb, five African-American Hoosiers and an ICRC employee will be honored for their exceptional efforts across diverse fields—including education, entrepreneurship, and community leadership —at the Awards Celebration. The celebration acknowledges the outstanding achievement of African Americans throughout the State of Indiana. These awards recognize some of the community’s unsung heroes who work tirelessly for the advancement of all Hoosiers.

Governor Eric J. Holcomb will honor six Hoosiers in the following areas:

Achievement in Business & Entrepreneurship

This award recognizes a Hoosier who has excelled in the industry and uses their accomplishments to give back to the community. This person’s work creates economic opportunities for Hoosiers and visitors to the state of Indiana.

Achievement in Education

This award recognizes an educator who has used innovative strategies to promote growth and achievement for their students. This person creates new opportunities to engage and uplift their students.

Achievement in Health and Wellness

This award recognizes someone who champions health care and wellness to Hoosiers in their community and beyond. This person creates access to resources and awareness within the health and wellness field.

Community Engagement Award

This award recognizes an individual who has committed both their personal and professional life to uplift and better the community. This person has developed initiatives and programs that have improved the quality of life in their community.

Next Level Award

This award recognizes the impact, initiative, and service to the community of an up-and-coming leader. The recipient exemplifies leadership, embodies community involvement, and develops positive initiatives that uplift the community.

Harold O. Hatcher Award

This award recognizes an Indiana Civil Rights Commission staff member who provides exceptional customer service, shows exemplary leadership skills, ingenuity in their role, and commitment to serving the public's interest of eradicating discrimination. The recipient is chosen by the Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission.
