The following video resources were produced in partnership between the Effective Evaluation Research Center and IN*SOURCE, the Indiana Resource Center for Families with Special Needs.
A Parent's Guide to Preschool Special Education Services: This video is comprised of eight modules that review each step of what happens after a family contacts the public school special education system with questions including referral, parent rights, evaluation, case conference, the evaluation report and eligibility. People who would benefit from viewing this video include parents considering or coming into the school special education referral process and providers and referral sources who need to provide information and support families' questions about the process of referral, evaluation and IEP planning.

Similarities and Differences between First Steps and Public Preschool Special Education Therapy Services: This video is comprised of nine modules that explain the similarities and differences between First Steps and public preschool special education therapy services in terms of their therapy models, eligibility determination, intensity and frequency in service delivery, service plans, what therapy looks like, family involvement and payment for services.
Indiana women, infants and children program (WIC)
WIC is a program that provides nutrition and health education, breastfeeding support, healthy food and referrals to other services free of charge to Indiana families who qualify. WIC stands for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children.
WIC offers families:
- Breastfeeding promotion and support
- Checks to buy healthy food
- Health and social service referrals
- Immunization screening and referrals
- Tips for eating well to improve health
WIC nutrition staff meet with each WIC participant to:
- Review nutrition and health behaviors
- Provide individual nutrition advice
- Support families making changes for better health
- Offer a selection of healthy foods
