Whitewater Memorial Park saddle barn closed

The saddle barn (guided trail rides and pony rides) at Whitewater Memorial State Park will not open in 2022. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please visit one of our other saddle barn locations and check back here for updates on the 2023 season. The equestrian day-use trails and horse campgrounds remain open at Whitewater Memorial State Park.

Fort Harrison Saddle Barn

Indiana State Park Saddle Barns offer trail rides, pony rides and hay rides. Many offer lessons, scout badges, gift certificates, birthday parties, corporate outings, campfire programs and other services.

Saddle barns are open at least weekends April and May, daily from Memorial Day Weekend through mid-August, then at least on weekends through October. Hours may be extended as weather permits, so call the location you’d like to visit for specific services and hours of operation.

All saddle barns are operated by independent contractors.

  • Brown County State Park

    Open March 12 - November 13 (daily)
    Hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (summer hours may be extended)
    Price $31 - 3.3 miles (1 hour) $1 discount for cash
    $21 - 2.2 miles (35 minutes) $1 discount for cash
    $3.50 - per lap for "parent" assisted pony ride $3 for cash
    $9 - 3 laps for "parent" assisted pony ride $1 discount for cash
    Hayrides May 27 - Oct. 29 (private rides available)
    $4 per person, (cash only). Children 3 years of age and under ride free
    Friday and Saturday only, Private hayrides available. Leaves camp store at 7:30 p.m.

    All trail riders must be 8 years of age or older.
    Gift Certificates available.
    MC/Visa/Disc accepted.
    For children 12 years of age and under a ASTM/SEI approved helmet is REQUIRED. These are available if needed.

    Price $21 - 1.5 miles ($1 discount with cash)
    $31 - 2.5 miles ($1 discount with cash)
    $5 - for "parent" assisted pony ride ($.50 discount with cash)
    $30 (per hour) Riding Lessons - English or Western
    Hayrides Reservations accepted for groups of 10 or more.
