Indiana Tax Court

The General Assembly established the Tax Court effective July 1, 1986

Learn about the Court

The Tax Court has exclusive jurisdiction over any case that arises under the Indiana tax laws and that is an initial appeal of a final determination made by the Indiana Department of State Revenue or the Indiana Board of Tax Review. In addition, the Tax Court has jurisdiction over certain appeals from the Department of Local Government Finance.

Proposed Tax Court Rule Amendments

October 18, 2024 | Announcement

The Indiana Tax Court has proposed changes to its rules to:

  1. Align its practices with the Rules of Appellate Procedure for appeals of final determinations from the Indiana Board of Tax Review, where applicable.
  2. Reorganize the rules into four distinct titles, each corresponding to a different type of case within the Tax Court's jurisdiction.

These amendments aim to provide clearer guidance and streamline processes for all tax appeals.

Comments on the proposed amendments will be accepted online or by mail until 12:00 p.m. (Eastern) on Monday, November 18.
