Steps to Certification
A candidate must agree to adhere to the Indiana Supreme Court Guidelines for Court Interpreters & Candidates. The Guidelines provide important program procedures such as the written and oral exams, exam cancellations, the oral exam grading and re-grading process, and the reciprocity policy. Candidates must score 80% or higher on the written exam and 70% or higher on the oral exam to be eligible for certification.

Registration for Spring 2026 Opens in February for Oral Exam Retakes.
The Court Interpreter Certification Training Program is held twice a year. Registration for the Fall Session opens in July, and the program starts in August. Registration for the Spring Session opens in December, and the program starts in January. All testing takes place in Indianapolis. Contact us with questions.
NOTE: This program is currently under review and will be unavailable for Spring 2026. Only oral exam retakes will be offered; dates are listed below. New candidates, please check back in the fall for updates.

When you sign up for skills building, you are also committing to and paying for the remote simultaneous workshop and the in-person oral exam (or oral proficiency interview) administered in Indianapolis. However, you must register for the exam separately and may only sit for the exam if you successfully complete skills building and simultaneous workshop. Retake Oral Exam / Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)

*The oral exam will be open during the week. You will be able to select a specific date/time (1 hour) from the choices available. Example: Monday, April 27, 2026 @ 9:00 a.m. or Tuesday, April 28, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m.
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Indianapolis (In-person)

Fee: $25 per section (up to 3 sections) for Indiana residents; $50 per section (up to 3 sections) for non-residents
