Marriage License

The Clerk's Office is issuing a new Marriage License by appointment only.

To begin your marriage license application online, please visit www.in.gov/judiciary/2605.htm.
After you have completed your section, call the Clerk's Office at (574) 753-7740 to schedule an appointment.

Please note the following:

  1. Appointments are required and available Mon.-Fri. 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  2. One of the parties must be a resident of Cass County.
  3. You must present a valid identification in the form of a United States-issued I.D. or valid United States passport. (Per I.C. 31-11-4-6)
  4. If your address is not current on your I.D., you will need to provide a computer-generated paper (utility bill, bank statement, etc.) for proof of residency.
  5. If you were previously married, you will need to provide the date of your divorce.
  6. You will need to know the state your parents were born in and your mother's maiden name.
  7. The cost of the marriage license is $25.00. Cash, credit card, money order, or cashier's checks are accepted.
  8. A marriage license is valid for 60 days from the date it is issued. There is no waiting period to get married.

The Clerk and Judges of Cass County do NOT perform marriage ceremonies. You will need to schedule an appointment with a minister or clergy of your choice.

*** If one or both applicants are younger than 17, they must have a court order granting permission to obtain a marriage license.
