Judge Brent A. Ecenbarger has served in the Allen Superior Court Family Relations Division since September 24, 2025. He was appointed to the bench by Indiana Governor Mike Braun.
Prior to his appointment as Judge, Ecenbarger served as a Magistrate in the Allen Circuit Court assigned to the IV-D Court since September 2023. Judge Ecenbarger currently serves on the Domestic Relations Committee for the Judicial Conference of Indiana. Through his time on the committee, Judge Ecenbarger has assisted in drafting a revised bench book for judicial officers.
Judge Ecenbarger is a native of Fort Wayne and a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Kinesiology (2006). He graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2010 and received a master’s degree the same year.
Following his graduation from law school, Ecenbarger joined the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office where he worked as a Deputy Prosecutor handling misdemeanor, felony and juvenile cases from 2010 to 2014. Ecenbarger then joined the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office as a Deputy Prosecutor from 2014 to 2020, with a focus on prosecuting crimes perpetrated against children, before working as an Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office from 2020 to 2023. While with the United States Attorney’s Office, Ecenbarger prosecuted complex criminal activities including multi-defendant drug trafficking organizations, receiving special recognitions from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Judge Ecenbarger has been married to his wife Elizabeth since 2010. They have three children.
