The State Student Assistance Commission, a division of the Indiana State government, provides need-based tuition assistance to eligible Indiana residents attending eligible Indiana colleges and universities. SSACI has several programs, the largest two being the Frank O’Bannon Grant and Twenty-first Century Scholars Program

To be eligible for the Frank O’Bannon Grant or Twenty-first Century Scholars Program you must file a FAFSA each year by March 10 for the next academic year. A 2012-2013 FAFSA typically is available within 3 business days of filing.

SSACI has a self-service website, called eStudent, for students who have filed a FAFSA as residents of the State of Indiana. The eStudent site

  • Indicates if there are any issues with your FAFSA that could prevent you from receiving state aid.
  • Allows you to see your state grant award.
  • Allows you to view your state grant history.
  • Allows you to view your grant application which includes information from your FAFSA, your diploma type, your Twenty-first Century Scholar status, National Guard status and school of choice.
  • Allows you to update your school of choice (please make sure the school you are attending is listed with SSACI as we will only send your grant information to that school).

Please click the blue oval below to enter the eStudent login/registration page.

  • For your privacy, you will be asked to verify the Social Security Number, email, zipcode, last name and birthdate used on your FAFSA.
  • You can not use the same email address as another member of your family.  If you have put the same email address as another family member you will need to use a different email address as your eStudent username for SSACI purposes.  There are many free email services (gmail.com, live.com, hotmail.com, yahoo.com) and service providers will often allow you to have multiple emails for the same price.
  • Please check this site often as schools can access your FAFSA and make changes that can affect your state grant eligibility or amounts.

Please note—if you have just filed a FAFSA for the first time, it takes 5-7 business days for the state to receive this FAFSA from the federal government. You will not be able to access eStudent until SSACI has your FAFSA on file. Information from a 2012-2013 FAFSA filing will not be available until mid-February.
