Looking to become a licensed salvage dealer in the State of Indiana? Just follow the steps below and you will be on your way!

Step 1 - Important legal review

We encourage those wanting to obtain their salvage dealer license in the State of Indiana to review the applicable state statutes and administrative rules regarding dealer licensing. Please read Indiana Code 9-22-4 and Indiana Aministrative Code Title 75 before moving on to Step 2.

Step 2 - Completing the application

Complete the Application for Salvage Motor Vehicle Business License (State Form 40248).  In order to achieve superior service, accuracy and cost savings, please complete the application completely, and submit all required documents with the application.  Click on the link below to download the form.

The following must be submitted with the completed application::

  • Application fee - click here to learn more
  • Complete a background check - click here to learn more
  • Insurance (Certificate of Liability)
  • Copy of Valid Photo ID issued by a government agency
  • Registered retail merchant certificate
  • Federal Identification Number provided by the Internal Revenue Service
  • Copy of Articles of Incorporation or Certificate of Organization from the Indiana Secretary of State’s Business Services Division (if applicable).

Step 3 - Sign, seal and mail!

Once you complete all of the steps and ensure all paperwork is filled out correctly, send your documents to the following address:
