A threat to your privacy and your cell phone bills
Federal legislation that would have allow companies to make unsolicited recorded calls (also known as "robo-calls") to consumers on their cell phones has died in Congress.
State utility consumer advocates throughout the nation, including the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC), raised concerns about this proposal (House Resolution 3035) and the effects it could have had on consumers' privacy and on their cell phone bills.
The OUCC and other members of the National Association of Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA) approved a resolution opposing any federal effort to weaken consumer protections on November 15, 2011.
