The Indiana Talking Books & Braille Library is happy to announce that at this year's Vision Expo we will have over 20 vendors and 2 speakers.

Christine Donmoyer

Christy Donmoyer

Christine Donmoyer was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, an inherited form of macular degeneration, at the age of 27.  She holds a PhD in Molecular Physiology & Biophysics from Vanderbilt University and furthered her training in vision research.  After 16 years as a biology and neuroscience professor, she works in the pharmaceutical industry and continues writing. She loves teaching health and science to others, including people with visual impairments, as she can personally relate to their challenges.  Christine lives near Akron, Ohio with her husband; they travel frequently. Julie Flaherty

Julie Flaherty

Julie Flaherty, alongside her husband Marty, is a Co-Owner of Cruise Planners/CFTravelCo of Noblesville. With almost a decade of experience in the travel industry, Julie specializes in accessible travel for individuals with disabilities/special needs. She has a personal understanding of the challenges faced by vision-impaired travelers and offers practical advice for those planning a variety of travel. experiences. In her presentation, she shares her travel adventures, including transportation, accommodations, activities, and highlights the importance of communication with travel providers and planning ahead.

Despite being visually impaired herself, Julie has traveled to 15 different countries, including her recent trip to Ireland, 12 cruises on eight different cruise lines, and visited nine National Parks and ten states, including Alaska and Hawaii. She has traveled by various modes of transportation, such as trains, planes, buses, and private transfers.
